Playing Around in a Tesla

This week, wednesday to be exact, my friends Fabio, Sabina and I decided to head to the city to check out the new Tesla store that was built there recently.

When we came in there were two customers who were being advised. We peeked around the cars for a bit, not sure if it was alright to sit in them, but when we opened the door no one said anything so we assumed it would be ok. After taking a look at the interior I asked one of the employees, who was very friendly which was nice for change since when we went to the Bentley store they were quite rude and unfriendly, some questions about the car and the different models. After that he welcomed us to make ourselves at home and to check out the cars for as long as we want, which, needless to say, was extremely kind!

The Model S is also quite known for the big screen in the middle of the console and some people argue that it is too big, but I just love it! It fits so perfectly with the car and it's image and if you don't like it that much it's possible to turn it off either completely or half of it since it is divided into a top and bottom section. Did I mention yet that it has wifi connectivity? I did a post on the Model S before in Seabrook, Washington and uploaded those pictures to my blog. In the Telsa in Geneva we pulled up my blog and opened up the pictures of me in a Tesla in a Tesla, get it ;), and then also turned on the rear camera and I went behind the car and my friend took a picture of that :)

One more great thing about the Model S is the rear seating capability. Since there is no real middle console you have tons of legroom even if you sit in the middle which doesn't really apply to most cars. This means you basically have 3 full rear seats and not the usual 2.5.

Another great feature is the amount of space you have for luggage! Since the batteries are built into the chassis' floor you have a trunk in the front and the back!! The one in the back is so big that you can throw in 2 more seats for children if you want.

After checking out all these great features we played around a bit more with the car and just had an absolute blast!! Thank you Tesla store Geneva for making this possible and for being so kind to us!

Tesla Model S

On my summer vacation this year I flew to the US as most of you know. There I was also in Seattle from where we then drove to Seabrook, an amazing little beach town, with our friends to spend a couple of days in their house. Once we got there I remembered that their neighbors had a Tesla there last year so I asked if they still had it and after our friends told us they did, Jason took me over to introduce me to the owner. The owner was extremely kind and showed me all around the car. After taking the pictures for the blog I talked to him some more about the "Superchargers", which I will get back to later.

For those of you who don't know Tesla, here are some facts and details. Tesla Motors was founded by a group of Silicon Valley engineers in 2003 (one of them is Elon Musk, in case any of you know him). The first model that launched was the Tesla Roadster, which was on the streets in 2008. The Roadster was able to go from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and had a range of 245 miles per charge (394 kilometers). Then in 2012 the Model S took to the streets. The Model S is a premium sedan which offers seating for 5 and another 2 optional seats in the trunk. The Model S is not quite as quick as the Tesla Roadster, but still manages an impressive 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds! The range of the Model S isn't too shabby either, it has a 265 mile (426.4 kilometer) range per charge. Oh, did I forget to mention that it's 100% electric?! That's right it has 0 Emissions and runs purely on electricity!!

Here are some pictures of the one I was in:

And there was another one charging just down the road at one of Seabrook's public charging stations.

One of the most impressive things about Tesla, in my opinion, is their "Superchargers". The  "Superchargers" are located all over the US and are free! Not only that, but it takes only 30 minutes and you have a range of 170 miles (273.5 kilometers)! You can check out a map of the "Superchargers" and where Tesla is planning to build them over here: http://www.teslamotors.com/supercharger

At this point I would like to thank the owner for being so kind and showing me around the car!!!
